Nimba Mining Company Restarts Its Tinguilinta Mine and Resumes All Mining Operations

Kamsar, December 20, 2025 – NIMBA MINING COMPANY S.A. (NMC) officially launched mining operations on Plateau 26 of the Tinguilinta mine, marking the extraction of the first bauxite and the first-ever use of a Surface Miner in the history of this mining concession.

This milestone completes the full restart of Nimba Mining Company's activities, which began at the end of October with the first shipment of bauxite by vessel, followed in early December by the resumption of railway operations, and now by the effective return of mining extraction on site.

During the ceremony, Patrice L’Huillier, Managing Director of Nimba Mining Company, reviewed the company's restart process, which enabled the full resumption of all its activities in less than four months, in accordance with the roadmap established by the Government of the Republic of Guinea. He highlighted the support provided by the authorities during this decisive phase, particularly by the Minister of Mines and Geology, Bouna Sylla, and the Minister Director of Cabinet of the Presidency, Djiba Diakité.

“On behalf of all the employees of Nimba Mining Company, we are proud to have implemented the vision of the Head of State, His Excellency the Head of State Mamadi Doumbouya, aimed at creating a national, sovereign, high-performing and fully operational company for the extraction and processing of Guinea's natural resources. Today, this vision has become a reality,” said Patrice L’Huillier.

To date, Nimba Mining Company employs approximately 450 people. As part of the expansion of its activities, the company and its direct mining subcontractors plan to recruit at least 1,000 additional people, with the objective of reaching a production capacity of 10 million tonnes of bauxite by 2026.

At the same time, Nimba Mining Company is actively preparing detailed studies for an alumina refinery with a planned capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, which would be located on the mining concession. Drilling work is also planned in the northern part of the concession, an area that remains relatively unexplored, in order to assess its potential.
